International number plates

Members of the diplomatic corps or consular staff and individuals working for an international organisation established in Belgium under public law are entitled to international number plates on the basis of a document issued by their institution.

International EUR and EUROCONTROL plates

Standardised plates have been introduced for the various international organisations under public law. It was decided to abolish the sticker affixed in the circle with yellow stars representing the European symbol. The period of validity of these plates corresponds to the term of employment with the international organisation under public law. The maximum period depends on the category of the number plate holder and can potentially be extended.

International plates will also be made up of 7 characters in European format, with the inscription in ruby red on white background beginning with the prefix 8 followed by 3 letters and 3 numbers.

CD plates

CD plates are converted into European format plates, with the letters CD followed by the inscription in ruby red on white background. The inscription is made up of 2 letters followed by 3 numbers. Applications are to be submitted to the Protocol Department, which will forward them to the Department of Motor Vehicles.
